Privacy policy

What happens to your data

Your privacy is important. And that’s why I do my utmost to handle it as carefully as possible. On this page I would like to tell you how I approach this.

Visiting the site

For all surfers and visitors

When you visit Rockets are cool, your visit is tracked by Google Analytics and Matomo, a privacy friendly option. With the statistics, I can make the website better. Your privacy is guaranteed because I only track anonymous data and you communicate with the server via a secure SSL connection.

If you – in addition to reading articles – contact me or respond, it is often necessary to share some information (such as your email address). Below I explain how I handle this data.

Respond or send a message

Your basic information

When you leave a comment at the bottom of an article, your IP address is stored next to your name, email address and the message you share. I only use IP addresses in case of abuse. Your IP address will be deleted from the system after 14 days.

I save your email address in comments for a maximum of 1 year. I do this to ensure that all your future responses do not have to be checked and appear directly on the site, and so that I can contact you in case of a personal question or complaint.

By posting a comment you agree that I will publish your name and message on the website. This data can be indexed by search engines. If you want to have your comment removed, please send me a message.

Comments posted on other platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) are processed in accordance with the corresponding privacy statement of those sites.

If you send me a message via the contact form, I will store your message for a maximum of 5 years in my mailbox – managed by Google under a processing agreement – so that I can offer you good service if you email me in the future.

Newsletter

If you subscribe

I usually send the newsletter every time a new article or project is published, with an occasional extra mailing around special events. When you are registered for the newsletter, you can unsubscribe by using the ‘Unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of each email.

When you unsubscribe, your data will be permanently removed from the system overnight.

Become a Plus member

Your personal information in the database

As a Plus member you automatically create an account on the website. For example, you can see your subscription details and save your articles.

  • Your data is stored via a secure connection.
  • Your data is stored anonymously.
  • You can always delete your account + data. If you no longer want an account, all you have to do is send a message and I will delete your data.
  • To protect your account, I save your last IP address in your account. This way I can prevent abuse.
  • I will keep your account for 5 years after your last login. This way you can always log in to your account to use it.

I really do my best to guarantee your privacy.

Sharing data

Other services

I like to keep your data in-house as much as possible – under my supervision on web servers within the EU. However, I am forced to share data (such as your IP address) with third parties in connection with security or the ability to provide services. Think of companies like Google and Cloudflare.

I never share more data than necessary to provide a service. I always share data in line with European regulations, according to a processing agreement and of course when there is a legal obligation to do so.

And further

Finally some words
